Crimson Kimono

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

This week's 'special' of my #inkstyling_3ways is a vintage kimono brought to me by my friend Zuki, who is almost my own personal stylist, because she is my voice of reason when it comes to purchases and simply has a great taste.

A young woman stepping forward against the wall. She is smiling, wearing a burgundy kimono with a geometric pattern, tied with a wide brown belt and layered with a velvet burgundy pencil skirt. She is wearing pointed burgundy leather court shoes.

The first look I was inspired by last week, i.e. turning a jacket into a dresses. I paired the kimono with a velvet skirt and tied it with a wide belt. Belts are awesome at turning various items of clothing into something a bit different and according to Vogue Feb issue - wide belts are in.

A young woman standing against a white wall next to a Christmas tree wearing an open burgundy and gold kimono paired with a burgundy roll neck and velvet pencil skirt. She is wearing a T necklace and holding a green open bucked bag.

Second look was with my favourite turtle neck from Uniqlo and the same skirt (American Apparel). Bag, shoes and necklace are #oldceline the big hoop earrings are from Hardware Vintage in Topshop (it's an awesome spot for both cheap and a bit more expensive designer costume jewellery pieces).

Small hoops top to bottom: Maria Tash and Maria Black. Rings left to right: Joomi Lim, Shaun Leane and Rachel Entwistle.

  • Ear with three piercings. Cartilage has small silver hoop with a spike, the earlobe has a small gold ball hoop and a large thick matte hoop with a heart on it
  • Two hands left on top of right. Left hand has a golden pearl and spike ring and a bone ring. Right pinky has a signet with a snake and a star

Girl standing against the wall next to a Christmas tree, wearing an open burgundy kimono, lightly flared corduroy black trousers, black rollback. Her hand is on the hip.

The final look was with corduroy tampered trousers from & Other Stories, turtle neck (I told you I love it) from Uniqlo, bag Chanel, shoes #oldceline. The quill earrings and necklace are by Shaun Leane.

Jewellery layers need a separate paragraph. From left to right: bracelet Shaun Leane, rings: Rachel Entwistle, Kasun, Shaun Leane. Rings on the other hand are both Shaun Leane. When it comes to jewellery I don't really have any rules. The more the better.

  • Ear with piercings with a golden quill earring on the lobe
  • Two hands left on top of right. Left hand has 2 golden rings on, right hand has three rings and a structured bracelet with branches all in gold.
